Understanding Delphi opening hours
Delphi opening hours need two checks: one for the archaeological site and another for the museum. The outdoor sanctuary shortens its afternoon opening in stages during September and October, while the museum has a distinct Tuesday schedule in summer. Treating the entire complex as a single attraction with one closing time can leave an important part of the visit unfinished.
Start by deciding how to divide the day between the archaeological site and the museum. The Sacred Way, treasuries and Temple of Apollo give the outdoor visit its structure; the museum adds sculpture and offerings from the sanctuary. Leave room for moving between them and for reading or listening, rather than planning to arrive at the last admission time.

Archaeological site calendar
The published Hellenic Heritage calendar gives the following opening hours for the outdoor site. The autumn changes matter even when the museum still has a later closing time. Choose the line covering the actual date of the visit, especially for trips close to the middle or end of a month.
| Dates | Site opening hours | Last admission |
|---|---|---|
| 1 April to 31 August | 08:00 to 20:00 | 19:40 |
| 1 to 15 September | 08:00 to 19:30 | 19:10 |
| 16 to 30 September | 08:00 to 19:00 | 18:40 |
| 1 to 15 October | 08:00 to 18:30 | 18:10 |
| 16 to 31 October | 08:00 to 18:00 | 17:40 |
| 1 November to 31 March | 08:30 to 15:30 | 15:10 |
Last admission is an entry deadline, rather than a suggested arrival time for a complete circuit. The sanctuary extends uphill, with the theater above the temple and the stadium at the highest part of the site. Build the day around the routes open on arrival and the time available before closing.

Museum hours and the summer Tuesday exception
The ministry's museum information, updated on 8 September 2026, lists winter opening from 1 November to 31 March as 08:30 to 15:30. From 1 April to 31 October the museum opens 08:00 to 20:00, except on Tuesdays, when the hours are 10:00 to 17:00. Tuesday therefore calls for different planning rather than being treated as a weekly closure.
Last museum admission is 20 minutes before closing: 19:40 on regular summer days, 16:40 on summer Tuesdays and 15:10 in winter. If a purchased audio-and-admission package specifies a museum appointment or visit order, follow that product's instructions alongside the opening calendar. Those instructions apply to the selected package, rather than establishing a general rule for every visitor.
The museum's listed closure days are 1 January, 25 March, Orthodox Easter Sunday, 1 May, 25 December and 26 December. Around these dates or Easter, review the visitor notice for the chosen date before setting off. Keep the return journey flexible enough to accommodate the actual visit instead of relying on the last entry deadline.
Plan around open routes and personal needs
A local report dated 31 August 2026, checked on 30 October 2026, described the stadium, Athena Pronaia and Castalian Spring as closed. Follow the barriers and staff directions encountered during the visit. A photograph of the Tholos or stadium should be treated as an illustration of Delphi, rather than a promise of access on a particular day.
For visitors with reduced mobility, the museum has an accessible exhibition route and a lift. The special vehicle serving the outdoor route to the Temple of Apollo requires notice to the Ephorate at least 7 days ahead. Arrange that separately from choosing an arrival time; it concerns access to the temple and does not extend the museum's accessible route across the upper sanctuary.
The ticket guide explains admission, while seasonal planning helps match the calendar to the kind of day intended. When coming from Athens, include the journey in the plan as well. An overnight base can separate a long arrival day from the cultural visit without turning the opening window into a rushed checklist.
Before setting out, write down the closing time for each area alongside the return departure. Then choose the main priority within each visit: following the sanctuary's layout outdoors or spending time with selected objects indoors. Keep any additional stops outside that core plan until the available time is clear. This gives the opening calendar a practical role and leaves room to respond to the routes available on arrival.
Questions about visiting times
Is Delphi Museum closed on Tuesdays?
The summer Tuesday schedule is 10:00 to 17:00. The ministry lists winter opening as 08:30 to 15:30, subject to the museum's closure dates.
When is the last admission?
Entry closes 20 minutes before the relevant closing time. Plan to arrive earlier if visiting both the museum and sanctuary.
Does the audio tour include admission?
The smartphone audio option on this page contains English narration, maps and text. Entrance tickets are separate, and it supplies no early entry or fixed admission slot.
Can the whole sanctuary be included in the plan?
Base the route on current signs and barriers. The local report checked on 30 October 2026 described closures affecting the stadium, Athena Pronaia and Castalian Spring.
